Roots of Kingship

David Melech sits in quiet contemplation, leaning against the tree of Yehudah—the source of his kingship. Around him stand twelve trees, representing the tribes of Israel, rooted yet distant, unified in origin yet scattered through history. His tallit flows downward into the earth, merging with the roots below, suggesting a hidden connection between past and future, between what was lost and what will be restored. Within its folds appears the image of the Beit Hamikdash, a vision carried through generations of longing. This work is rich with symbolism for those who choose to look beyond the surface—touching on exile and return, fragmentation and unity, and the enduring hope for redemption. It presents David not only as a king, but as the living root from which the future restoration of Israel begins to emerge.
