Demeter and Persephone

This painting draws on the Greek myth of Demeter and Persephone โ the goddess of agriculture and spring, and her daughter, who becomes queen of the underworld. Persephone is taken into this role, losing her life in the upper world, yet in doing so she enters a realm that is vast and boundless. The underworld, rather than being an end, becomes a space of infinite potential โ a place where everything that ever was, and everything that will be, ultimately converges.
