A Starry Night Interpretation

Artist: Daniel Year of Creation: 2021 Medium: Mixed media โ oil on canvas combined with highlighting markers. Dimensions: 120 cm (Width) / 80 cm (Height). About the Work: This work constitutes a contemporary and powerful homage to one of the most iconic works in art history โ "The Starry Night" by Vincent van Gogh. The painting, in a wide and dominant format, allows the viewer to be drawn into the swirling motion of the night sky and the fascinating contrast between the quiet village and the cosmic storm raging above it. The Artistic Uniqueness: The added value in this work lies in the precise combination of tradition and innovation. The use of classical oil paints provides the familiar depth and richness, while the use of highlighting markers adds a modern graphic layer. This technique emphasizes the contour lines and the swirls characteristic of the expressionist style, while creating a unique sharpness and dynamism that gives the work a prominent visual presence in modern spaces. I chose to create an imitation of Van Gogh's painting out of my connection to the artist and his life story, and also from the perspective of how the value of art changes in the eyes of society; during his lifetime, he only managed to sell one painting, "The Red Vineyard," and even that for pennies because there was no appreciation for his style, and only after his death did he receive appreciation.
