A Scratching Camel

A camel scratching it's back. From the series "Upon Camels" captured within the Bedouin diaspora in the Negev between 2011 and 2014 using analog cameras and Fuji 400 ASA black-and-white film. The choice of a raw, grainy texture creates a distinct visual language, deeply rooted in the earth, the intense desert light, and the daily rhythms of the Bedouin community. For six months, Uriel lived alongside the tribes, dwelling in their villages and hospitality tents, listening to stories around the campfire, and walking the paths with local shepherds. Through this immersive journey, he sought to perceive the world through their eyes.
