About

Niri Gattmon | 2026 Niri Gattmon is a musician and photographer living and working in Tel Aviv. She is a graduate of Thelma Yellin High School of the Arts and holds a BFA in Photography from Minshar School of Art (2025). In her work, Gattmon combines urban photography, portraiture, and personal archival images, seeking to connect past memories with the present and preserve what is destined to disappear. Gattmon began photographing at the age of 14 with an Olympus camera she received from her father. Her first photograph was a family selfie reflected in a dark shop window on Ben Yehuda Street. Over the years, she has documented the streets of Tel Aviv, her family, her friends, and the sea โ€” places that became the foundation of her identity and a source of refuge. She initially worked in black and white and later expanded into color. The photographic archive she has built includes documentary images, family photographs, commercial work, and scanned film materials. Her photographs are rooted in both physical and mental wandering. Yet unlike spontaneous drifting, she works with a full-frame camera and tripod, carefully composing each image. Through her lens, she explores the threshold between private and public space, and the experience of home as interwoven with the urban environment. In her practice, Gattmon bridges past and present, articulating a contemporary experience that carries both personal and cultural resonance. Through a typological process of returning to the same locations, people, and experiences, she preserves the past while simultaneously capturing what is on the verge of fading. Gattmon has participated in numerous group exhibitions, including Bank Hapoalimโ€™s art initiatives and Tel Aviv Photo, where several works from her series were sold. Her works are consistently acquired through private sales and are included in domestic and public collections. ________________________________________
